The agreement, in plain words.

These terms are an agreement between True-Compass.AI (“we”) and the person or business that opens a DoorLog.AI account (“you”, the “client”). By opening an account you agree to them. Tenants, owners and vendors who are invited into a client’s account use the service under the client’s account and these terms as they apply to them.

The service

DoorLog keeps one file per rental unit: the lease, the rent record, the deposit, the photographs, the maintenance history and the documents. It collects rent online through Stripe, drafts deposit statements, and lets leases be signed online. It is a record-keeping and payments tool. It is not a bank, a law firm or an accountant, and nothing it drafts is legal advice.

Your account

• You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract.
• You are responsible for what is done under your logins and for keeping them secure.
• You may add staff, owners, vendors and tenants. You are responsible for inviting the right people and for what you allow them to see.
• One account is one organization. Nobody, including our staff, signs in as somebody else.

Your records

The records you enter are yours. We host them and process them on your instructions, as described in our privacy policy. You are responsible for having the right to enter them, for their accuracy, and for meeting the laws that apply to you as a landlord or manager, including those about deposits, late fees, notices and fair housing. DoorLog applies some of those rules automatically as a help to you; it does not relieve you of knowing them.

You may export your records at any time. When you close your account we delete them as the privacy policy describes.

Payments through DoorLog

Online rent is processed by Stripe under Stripe’s own terms, which you accept when you connect your account. Rent is paid into your own bank account; we never hold it. Per-payment fees are set out on the pricing page and are charged to you; you may pass them to the tenant where your lease and the law allow. Disputes and refunds between you and a tenant are between you and the tenant.

Subscription, trial and billing

• Every plan begins with a 30-day free trial. A card is required and nothing is charged until the trial ends. Cancel before then and you owe nothing.
• After the trial you are billed monthly in advance for your plan and for the doors in your account, at the prices on the pricing page when you signed up or last changed plan.
• You may change plan at any time. Moving up takes effect at once; moving down takes effect at the next billing date and never deletes any record.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice by email. A change never applies to a billing period already paid.
• If a payment fails we will tell you and try again. If it keeps failing we may suspend the account; your records stay intact for you to export.

What you may not do

• Use the service for anything unlawful, including discrimination that fair housing law forbids.
• Enter records about people you have no business relationship with.
• Try to reach another client’s data, probe the service’s security, or interfere with it.
• Resell the service or represent it as your own.

Electronic signatures

Leases signed through DoorLog are signed electronically, with the signer’s typed name, the time and the network address recorded. You are responsible for deciding that an electronic signature is appropriate for a given document under the law that applies to you.

Our promises and their limits

We will run the service with care, keep your records safe as the privacy policy describes, and tell you promptly if something goes wrong. The service is provided as it is; we do not promise it will be free of errors or interruptions. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you in any twelve months is limited to what you paid us in that period. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending the agreement

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we cannot bill, after telling you. Either way you may export your records first, and we delete them afterwards as the privacy policy describes.

Changes

We may change these terms. For changes that matter we will tell you by email at least 30 days before they take effect; continuing to use the service after that is acceptance.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of the county in Texas where True-Compass.AI is based.
